SLCDF held the Final Appreciation Meeting of Stakeholders after successful implementation of the “Sustainable Interventions in Livelihoods in Kilinochchi” (SILK) Project. This project was commenced on 30th October 2013 and was completed on 24th April 2017. SLCDF truly recognizes the enormous support received by the District Secretary, all four Divisional Secretaries of Kilinochchi District and the officials of the Department of Animal Production & Health, Department of Agriculture and the 47 Civil Society Organizations.
On the invitation of SLCDF, Mr. S. Arumainayagam District Secretary / Government Agent of Kilinochchi chaired this appreciation meeting. The meeting was held on 10th August, 2017, from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat and comprised of stakeholders, special guests and SLCDF staff. Vidya Jyothi Emeritus Professor S.W. Kotagama the Chairman of SLCDF and other distinguished invitees presented the appreciation mementos to the dedicated stakeholders.
Through this project SLCDF was able to rebuild the lives of 1002 re-settled families in 41 marginalized villages in all 4 divisions in the district of Kilinochchi. The participants were selected and trained, given support for integrated livelihood projects and are gladly engaging in dairy farming and conservation farming in a sustainable manner.
The SILK project was funded by USAID with the generous support from the American people and was executed by SLCDF in partnership with Government agencies, NGOs and CBOs and the private sector.
