SLCDF holds the first orientation programme for stakeholders in two districts on the Establishment of Civil Society structures for Official Language Policy

SLCDF conducted the first online orientation programme for Stakeholders in Moneragala and Kandy districts on 20th November, 2020 from 9 AM – 12 noon.  This is the next step in the series of activities planned under the project supported by the National Languages Equality Advancement Project (NLEAP). In the above two districts Buttala and Bibila Divisional Secretaries’ Divisions (DSDs) from Moneragala District and in Kandy District Delthota and Gampola DSDs have been selected for this project.

The programme was joined by the District Language Officers, Divisional Youth Officers and NGO leaders, representatives and district coordinators of the two District Consortia of the two districts.

From SLCDF, the Executive Director Mr. Tissa Wijetunga,  Senior Programme & Administrative Officer Mr. Sanath Jayatunga and several other staff participated.

Similar orientation programmes have been arranged for on 24th November jointly with Matara and Galle Districts and on 26th November with Kilinochchi District held online.

This arrangement was decided upon in lieu of holding them in Colombo, to continue implementing the planned activities of the ongoing project with NLEAP amidst the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation. This project was commenced in June 2020 will be completed in June 2022.
