An inter school competition focusing on art, poster designs and essay writing on the theme of “Minimize pollution of ocean through waste management including plastic & polythene” organized by the Ministry of Education and Department of Local Government – Southern Province under the Municipal Waste Recycling Programme (MWRP), funded by the USAID / DIG was held among 25 schools with the intention of assessing and inspiring creativity. The event was held for the second consecutive year following the highly inspiring success of the similar competition and exhibition held last year.

The project continued with the objective of promoting and featuring the 3R concept within the schooling system and encouraging and educating students from the foundation level itself. The competition attracted 1771 art, 115 essay and 122 poster submissions in total.

Officials from the Southern Province Department of Local Government and Ministry of Education graced the event as panellist for the board of judges.

It is hoped that an exhibition and an award ceremony to reward and honour the winners with prizes will be held accordingly before December, 2019.
