Further assistance for families in need from SLCDF during these troubled times

Dry ration packages being prepared in target regions

Amidst the ongoing battle against the Covid-19 pandemic with the intention of contributing towards the cause SLCDF has been able to successfully facilitate provision of dry rations parcels worth Rs. 2000 each to a total of 300 families being distributed during the span of 27th – 29th March, 2020. The families selected are vulnerable and of low-income, and participate in the Village to Markets (V2M) project funded by Palmera Projects in Kilinochchi and Polonnaruwa districts.

Each dry ration package provided to the families included the following items: -:
– 10 kg rice
– 2 kg red rice floor
– 2 kg wheat flour
– 1 packet of milk powder-
– Spices i.e chilie powder
– Salt
– 2 kg sugar

The distribution was spearheaded by SLCDF’s local partner “Gemi Sarana Maha Sangamaya” in Polonnaruwa for 100 families whereas in Kilinochchi for 200 families the distributions were done in two GN Divisions, Kalmadunagar and Periyakulam, in Kilinochchi District and was coordinated through the Kandavalai Divisional Secretariat. The Items included in the packages were purchased from government approved outlets. The programme will be further extended to Puthukudiyiruppu region in Mullaitivu District as well in the upcoming days.
