Signing of Agreements
Handing over agreements to SLCDF by Country Manager of Diakonia
Two agreements were signed on 26th April 2016 with Diakonia, under the Sri Lanka Democracy and Justice Programme 2016-2020, of Diakonia in the SLCDF Secretariat.
Under ‘’Strengthening civil society structures for sustainable development’’, initially the District Consortia of Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle, Jaffna, Kegalle and Kurunegala and another twelve DCs will be capacitated to actively participate in poverty reduction and sustainable development.
The “Collective engagement for equitable and sustainable growth of vulnerable communities’’ programme of Mullaitivu District seeks to strengthen CSOs, representing communities, to help them play the role of the catalyst in enhancing the economic growth of the area by facilitating sustainable livelihoods for community members on the one side while engaging closely with federations, networks and Local Authorities on the other, to remove barriers, collaborate and provide enhanced services required for improved productivity.
Country Manager of Diakonia, Mr. Frank Stephen and Programme Officer of Diakonia Mr. M. Murugaverl, Board members of SLCDF Prof. Ramanie Jayatilake (Secretary) and Mr. J. Henry de Mel (Treasurer), Executive Director and staff of SLCDF, and representatives from six District Consortia participated in this occasion.
