On our recent visit to the Suthathirapuram school, in Puthukudiyiruppu the principal shared that the school only went to year 10 before we started work in the village. Last year they opened up for the first time a year 11 and 12 class with 14 children joining these classes, and 4 students were accepted to university!!
Since incomes have increased in the village, there has been a dramatic change to education outcomes.
It goes to show that a decent income really does change everything.
Through Palmera we have supported more than 400 families in Suthathirapuram GN division in the Village2Markets project funded by Palmera Projects Australia.
